My Position

In my research paper i intend to argue the con side. I feel i have more information and better arguments to support it. I feel my biggest argument is the injury aspect of it. My only concerns about arguing this position is that after my three important arguments i don't have that much information.

Con

Football is one of if not the most violent sport. It is too dangerous for children to play and there should be age restrictions so that they can't play it. Every play in a football game is a potential for an injury. Injuries to young children can be critical because they are not fully developed yet. It is not worth it to risk life altering injuries just to play a game.

Pro

Children should be able to play pee-wee football. It is one of the most popular sports in America and many children love the game. Children are young for a very short time and they should be able to enjoy a great game at its purest level. Another concern in this country is the growing obesity numbers. With all the health concerns playing sports, like football, is a great way for children to get some exercise and stay out of trouble. Injuries are a part of the game and they will happen, but they shouldn't prevent children from playing. Especially on the lower levels where children are smaller and don't hit as ferociously.

A very controversial debate in the media today is whether or not children should play pee-wee football. Football is one of the most popular sports in the country; however it also produces the most injuries. Many people feel that the game is too dangerous for young children to play and that there should be age restrictions. We don't want young children to undergo life altering injuries at an early age. On the other hand our society is facing childhood obesity and sports like football keep children active and out of trouble. The risk of injury is there, but so is the love of the game.
